โ€ŒWhat Happens Next

If the shift key is not held:

๏‚ท The mesh is reparented to the tracker

๏‚ท The meshโ€™s world-space position and orientation remain unchanged

๏‚ท The mesh moves with the tracker using its current offset

If the shift key is held:

๏‚ท The mesh snaps so its origin sits exactly at the trackerโ€™s 3D position

๏‚ท Rotation and scale are preserved

๏‚ท The mesh moves with the tracker, with no offset

In both cases:

๏‚ท The mesh now moves with the tracker whenever the tracker moves

๏‚ท The parenting is relative: if the tracker moves, the mesh follows using the same offset

๏‚ท If the tracker is deleted, the mesh is automatically unparented

๏‚ท When the mesh snaps to the position of the tracker (shift key held), the meshโ€™s position gets set to (0, 0, 0). That can be edited after the parenting, to set a fixed position offset between the mesh and tracker.
