โSolving for Anamorphic Distance
SynthEyesโs solver can determine the anamorphic distance as part of its solving process, like other parameters on the lens distortion panel (even though the anamorphic distance isnโt a 2-D effect, but a 3-D one).
Important: To solve for anamorphic distance, the shot must contain trackable features at a range of distances, as well as adequate camera motion. If you can only track a distant background, and nothing trackable in the foreground, you wonโt be able to solve for a meaningful anamorphic distance.
The anamorphic distance can be entered manually, calculated as a single value, or calculated on key frames or on every frame, as with other parameters. Thereโs nothing particularly special required for that.
In many cases youโll probably need to solve the shot with zoom/HSCL and
VSCL animated as well.
The anamorphic distance appears in the Graph Editor directly under the
camera, not in the Lens Distortion section, becauseโฆ it is not a lens distortion .
We donโt know how significant anamorphic distance will be to your shots, but at least it should be easy to try! Coping with it once you have it, however, is an entirely different matter.
Tip: If you are using an anamorphic lens model and set or calculate an anamorphic distance, then change to a non-anamorphic lens model, the anamorphic distance track will automatically be cleared to prevent it from destroying your subsequent camera matches.
